What's a beauty blogger's biggest weakness? Packaging. Gold, shiny, deluxe packaging. Well, that's definitely my Achilles' heel - if ever I've uhmmed and ahhed over a purchase, the packaging is eventually what sealed the deal. So I thought I'd dedicate a whole post to the light-catching casing and pretty patterned pans that kinda steal my heart (and then my money).
Now, back when posh beauty counters and department stores were a once in a blue moon event, YSL was the counter that I would gravitate towards, like a moth to a flame. YSL just know how to do luxe packaging and they're lipsticks have always been the winner for me. The colour coded centre of the Rouge Volupte lipsticks paired with the reflective, gold shell and handy mirror on the top = the lipstick to whip out on a crowded tube journey.
The prettiest pan that sits in my stash has gotta be Witty Peach Pure Colour Blush from Estee Lauder. After hearing 'Oh, we're out of stock...' in Boots, I only wanted it more and finally tracked it down in Debenhams. You can definitely use the two ends of the pan separately but swirled together you're left with a beautiful pinky coral that's perrrrfect for summer.
And last but not least, I have two items that were made purely to ignite Compact Envy in your fellow female commuters. The Dior 5 Coueleurs isn't the most necessary item to carry around in your handbag, but the large mirror and a neautral shade combo make it perfect for doing your makeup on the go. My favourite of all has got to be the CHANEL Les Beiges. The cream compact as opposed to the standard black and white combo is just too lovely for words. I'm sure I read somewhere that there are going to be new additions to the Les Beiges line in the near future? Then again, I might have dreamt that.
After letting the packaging suck me in, it's a pretty darn good job that the products inside are pretty amazing too. The only product that irks me a little is the Rouge Volupte with its terrible staying power - but I guess we all know that goes hand in hand with such a smooth and creamy formula. I'd love to know what products you caved and bought after perving over the packaging - or if you've tried any of the products I mentioned? Let me know, and we can all be guilty/secretly not guilty together ;)
