Our flight for Croatia leaves at 5am tomorrow and being such a complete and utter procrastinator means that today I am still scurrying around, suitcase packing and money exchanging. But I'm proud to say that the preening, prepping and pampering has already taken place - that lot's got to take priority, right? I've taken a quick break to bask in the 27 degree heat (amazing!) and realised that The Holiday Prep could not be more appropriate to the British clime right now, so here's my little checklist.
Smooth skin - stat! If all you wanna get from your holiday is a tan (*sheepishly raises hand*) then this is a super crucial step. A good soak in the bath, followed by a body brush and scrub will remove dead skin cells and ensure that your tan lasts as long as possible. The body brush will also improve circulation and apparently it helps break down cellulite - I'm in.
Ditch the brows. OK, that was definitely just a joke. But instead of lugging all your brow products just give your eyebrows a quick tint. As someone who feels naked without my brows scribbled on, I can't go on about this enough. Dying my brows slightly darker gives them a fuller, thicker appearance and they seem to frame my face more - which means morning brow maintenance isn't as important. Just SPF and on to the beach.
Don't forget feet! A pumice stone, foot file or Ped Egg will all do the job - and they work best just after a bath. I always feel like my feet take a battering on holiday but by taking care of them prior to going away they won't need so much TLC when you're back.
The mani/pedi. Definitely my favourite part. I will sit there uhmming and ahhing for around half an hour on what shade to choose, send SnapChats to my friends for their advice before eventually resorting to eeney-meeny-miny-mo. But what I've really been loving lately is a mismatched mani/pedi. For example, you could do something similar to the Watercolour Nails in this post on one finger, a polka dot design on the other or a simple glitter accent nail on another. Check out the WAHnails Instagram account for some amazing inspo!
If you have time you could even pencil in a 15 minute slot for a quick face mask - my pick would be Elemental Herbology's Facial Detox mask followed by a good, nourishing moisturiser. I'd love to know about your pre-holiday routine, so let me know in the comments! Like I said, tomorrow I'll be jetting off for a whole week - but I have an onslaught of holiday/summery themed posts lined up ;). Until then, enjoy the sun and I'll see you all in a week!
