I was going to do a post on the beauty bits that I packed for my holiday but that would have been one helluva snoozefest. To give you an idea I've taken three nudes, a red, two fuschias and one pink - and that's just the lipsticks! So I thought I'd quickly share the bolt-ons in the beauty batch. The bits that you could do without, but they sure do come in handy if you do decide to take them.
The Avene Thermal Spring Water will be an absolute godsend if you're going somewhere with a super sunny clime. Yes it's just spraying water on your face, and technically you could go and have a quick dip in the pool instead, but that involves actually moving from the sun lounger. I'll take water in an aerosol any day.
Next is the Clarins Instant Smooth Self Tanning. I ended up taking this to Ibiza on a whim and was sooooo glad I did - it seriously took the edge of those first few days when my face was looking pretty pasty. It also means that if you use a really strong SPF on your face, you can apply this to make your face match the rest of your body. It's also a lovely boost to an existing tan.
Another tan booster is the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser in Deep Radiance. This is a dark brown tinted liquid that is perfect to mix in with your current foundation. It really is genius to have something like this with you when you're away, because as you get more of a tan you can adapt how much of this you use in your foundation. This way your base shade will always be a perfect match.
A completely optional bolt-on is the Carrot Sun Oil. I have the Papaya version which smells heavenly. This oil is designed to help you tan quicker and keep your colour longer. But beware as there's no SPF in the oil so you'll need to apply it before your regular suncream.
And lastly, if going makeup free on holiday fills you with dread, Avene have come up with a very nifty product indeed. The Tinted Compact SPF50* is a cream to powder foundation that obviously packs a whole lotta protection too. The compact means its easy to pop into your handbag and it also comes with a sponge for applying it on the go. It's suited more to normal/dry skin types and is definitely not one for photographs as the flashback is on another level, but for when you need extra coverage on your holiday adventures - it works a treat.
So there we have it - the little bits and bobs to add that special somethin' somethin' to your holiday beauty regime. If you pick your bolt-ons carefully they really can make everything a lot easier while your away, and a lot of the items can double up too. For example the Carrot Sun Oil makes a great after sun moisturiser, and the LM product works a treat just tapped over cheek and collar bones for a bronzey glow. So now I just have to figure out how to fit this all in to my carry on... What are your favourite Vacation Bolt-Ons?
