The Dior Addict lipsticks have been on my hitlist for bloomin' ages. Not just because of the gorgeous, luxe packaging and whispers of an amazingly smooth formula, but also because my beauty idol LisaLisaD1 is always raving about them. Like if I had a pound for every time she mentioned them, we'd all be stinking rich and running out to buy the entire shade range. Or would we? Cos after trialing the shade 222 Beige Casual I'm sitting on the fence with this one.
The shade range is immense, ranging from nudes to poppy reds and vibrant pinks. You could waste a whole afternoon swatching and re-swatching them all and that's pretty much what I did. In the end (after toying with the idea of Plaza, a fuschia pink) I swung for the safest option with Beige Casual. And maybe that's where I went wrong. Because unlike many of the other shades this is very lightly pigmented. It takes at least 6 swipes (I counted) to build up a decent level of nude pigmentation and even then it's still very light. However, it was easy to see why the formula gets so much hype. It's the same smoothness as the YSL Rouge Voluptes, perhaps even smoother and a lot more glossy. Applying this lipstick is a pure joy, from whipping it out of your handbag to the satisfying *click* as you put it away.
But this is where it all goes wrong. The lasting power. Forget it for a night out because you won't even make it from the front door to the cab without this disappearing. OK, slight exaggeration but you get the idea. Fair enough that's what comes with a smooth formula and I realllllly want to love this lipstick but for £24 I won't be purchasing another - unless it's a brighter shade that has more staying power. Have you ever tried the Dior Addict lipsticks. Any shade recommendations?
