Mix 'n' match nails really are an indecisive girl's best friend. And did I ever tell you that indecisive is my middle name? The whole idea is that you paint a different design on each nail (meaning you never have to face the tough choice of leopard print or flowers ever again!) and it seems like it really kicked off as a trend when wahNAILS got their creative selves in on the act. I'd been stalking their Instagram - eh, what's new? - and got really inspired to give it a go myself.
I think the key is to keep your designs within the same colour palette; for example neons, tribal shades, or pastels like I've gone for. This keeps all of your designs fitting in nicely with each other despite all being so different. To create the flowers or some leopard print, you can use anything from a toothpick to a profesh dotting tool and for the ombre all you need is a makeup sponge. I have tutorials for both here and here. I then created the triangles using some striping tape to section of parts of the nail. If you want to try some designs that are completely hassle free, I definitely recommend picking up some Fimo slices from eBay. You can get fruit (like I have), flowers or cake slices and they all adhere to the nail with a slick of top coat. Simples!
What do you think of the mix 'n' match mani? Is it something you'd try?
