January Faves 2014

My first monthly favourites post! I've never done these before because, honestly, I gravitate towards the same things:  Every. Single. Day. And I figured that probably wouldn't be particularly exciting to read. However. I've made a little promise with myself to branch out, re-discover neglected gems, finish off the nearly empty products and just generally have more fun with my make up!

And now you're probably looking at my picks and thinking 'this is you having fun?!' Well let me just explain that this month has involved lots of early mornings, gym days and, of course, I became hypnotized by Celebrity Big Brother. (I am SO COOL). So there weren't an awful lot of opportunities for amazing make up. But there was a lot of sallow skin to sort out and a call for make up that was just simple and easy to do in the AM.

Now what you see above is a little something I've appropriately named The Becca Dream Team. It involves 3 ridiculously quick steps that go a little something like:

1. Mix a tiny blob of the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal £33 with the Becca Luminous Skin Foundation £5.99 (Fragrance Direct) and apply as a moisturiser all over. Hello bright and glowy skin with a touch more evenness to it.

2. Grab the Becca Sheer Stick Foundation in Honey £4.99 (Fragrance Direct) and swipe onto the t-zone. Pat and blend in with fingertips for a perfected but natural looking base.

3. Set it all down with the ridiculously messy but amazing Becca Fine Loose Finishing Powder in Wheat £5.99 (Fragrance Direct). I think it's safe to say I've never encountered a product with worse packaging - I mean the lid doesn't actually screw on so forget any notion of taking this out with you in your handbag. But it is a beautiful lightweight powder that slightly blurs pores whilst adding a touch more coverage.

When it comes to lipstick and blush, I've been obsessed with these two. The L'Oreal Nude Privee Lipstick in Cheryl's Nude £8.19 is a gorgeous mix of pink and brown. It's a beautiful nude for medium skin tones and looks unbelievable with a brown smokey eye. Cheryl's Nude is also the perfect day time shade and I don't find it drying or uncomfortable to wear at all. Definitely one of those throw-on-and-go kinda shades.

The blush is Daniel Sandler Watercolour Fluid Blusher in Cherub £15.50. I've never tried anything similar to this formula, it is quite literally like applying watercolours to your cheeks. But it has an amazing blendable consistency, and doesn't leave tell-tale dots behind like I've experienced with other fluid blushers.  Take a look at my full review here to see what it looks like on - it's totally one of those suit all shades, especially as it's so pigmented.

This oil from Clarins - the Lotus Face Treatment  Oil £30 - is an absolute life saver for oily skin. Oil + oil = good news for us oily/combo skinned gals. I've found that since using this, my face produces less oil and is just all round more smooth and bright. It smells heavenly and absorbs quickly without feeling greasy or heavy. If  you like, you can read more about the Lotus Oil, as well as some other hero products for oily/combo skin, here.

And even though I only received this right at the end of January, I couldn't not include it. It's the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Chocolate £15. This little pot of amazing-ness has revolutionised the way I do my brows. Paired with a synthetic angled brush, this gel-mouse product glides on and STAYS on! It is the longest lasting brow product I've ever tried and if you can find a shade to match you, I recommend you run and get it right now. Like now. Go! Take a look at my full review here.

So yeah that's everything! Oh and before I forget, I have a FOTD post using the Becca products (a.k.a. The Becca Dream Team) that I purchased from Fragrance Direct here. Link me up to your January Favourites, or let me know what you've been loving in the comments.
